Google Stadia launching date is around the corner and it is gaining traction in the gaming world. For now, it is launching on November 19 in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and 11 countries in Europe.
Practically, It is a gaming platform by Google and the tech giant is defining ‘Stadia’ as focusing on gamers, inspired by the developers and amplified by the YouTube creators.
By introducing the “Rigid Body Physics” concept in the gaming world, Google is living up to the vision of creating “one place for all the way we play”.
In a nutshell, Stadia is Google’s new cloud-based gaming platform with multiple GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) support that allows you to play your favorite hit video games across screens instantly and serve the same interactive experience.
But how they are claiming to serve the equal interactive experience on all screens. The reason behind this claim is that Stadia is a cloud-based service and all the heavy lifting is performed by a remote PC. It means the controller connects you to the game running on the Google data center. So it doesn’t matter whether you are using a phone, tablet, computer, or on a giant screen of Television.
To satiate this claim, Google says that users will have access to the power of a custom AMD 2.7GHz x86 processor with 16GB RAM, up to 484GB/s transfer speed, and a GPU that has 10.7 teraflops of power.
Now coming down to some of its out-of-the-box features which might revolutionize the way the gaming world—
- Google Assistant Support: We are not much amazed to see this. Being a Google product, this feature has to be there. See how it works—Just imagine you are stuck somewhere in between your gaming, you can ask the assistant to seek advice. It is even possible it plays a tutorial video on the screen that will walk you through
- Heaven for multiplayer gaming: Google is known for its innovation-driven approach, so how it is possible for them to be left behind this time. Unlike traditional gaming experience, which is connected by unpredictable internet, resulting in a limited interactive experience in multi-player experience. Google Stadia comes with a different kind of setup. In this setup, the Google client & server both remain on the Google network, resulting in low latency and added security levels.
- Another abode for developers: Google has always been a supporter of the open-source platform, like Flutter, which is an open-source UI software development for developing cross-platform apps. So through this platform as well, Google is inviting developers to contribute & apply for access to development tools. It also has “Stadia Partners” —a program built to help developers of any size or experience bring their in-development game to market in partnership with Google.
Now it’s time to come down to the hardware part!
With this gaming prototype model, Google has launched a “Stadio Controller” to complement the gaming experience. And it looks like Google has put down its heavy force behind this after the failure of one of its products in the hardware range “Google Lens”
Amazingly, it is more than a controller. Now without much ado, look at some of its features—
- It provides seamless connectivity directly to the Wi-Fi to the game running on the Google data center to remove any lags
- The controller has the ability to identify which screen or device you want to play on and links it with your game session running in the cloud.
Stadia integrates with YouTube
- Crowd Play: It is really going beyond gaming imagination. You can jump to the game right in between a YotTube Stream when a YouTuber opens up the game all of a sudden
- Games right from the trailer: The clarity on this is somewhere vague. But through it, Google will promise you to jump on games right in between a session from your favorite host or maybe from a trailer.
This is not an exaggeration to say that the controller enables you to access a top-notch gaming experience above others. But not an issue, as Google allows you to use any existing input scheme— including controllers, mice, and keyboards.
Summary with a viewpoint
Without a shadow of a doubt, Google Stadia is reportedly more powerful than any console on the market right now. It has also had an upper hand for being easier to upgrade as hardware upgrades happen remotely at the server-side. You can also choose from 1080p up to 4K. 4K support is at 60fps with HDR and a full surround support system.
It is already being called the future of games, and Google is still preparing itself to launch 8K gaming support. Hope this development will bring some propitious results for Google & for the gaming industry.
Well, to end with, here is a catch here with the launching of this gaming console. Flutter (Open-source platform of Google) official website is showing a timer scheduled to last for 19 November, which is the official launch date of “Google Stadia”. So, if we believe in the rumors, the Stadia app is completely developed on Flutter. If it is true, then this is the biggest breakthrough for Flutter as a developing platform and the biggest delight for the developer’s community.
